Guys, I am so excited! I've been accepted to return to a second year at my local community college, WCCC (Western Colorado Community College) as a student in the Digital Design class!
I'm super excited, not only because it's literally the ONLY class I've ever been happy about getting up at six in the morning for, but also because my teachers personally recommended me for the Technical Scholars program that only a handful of the students get! Won't that look amazing on a resumé! Not only that, but also to the college I'm dying to go to, and to Pixar, which I'm also dying to work for. |
I am super excited to get out of high school and go to college. I love to learn, and I learn pretty quickly. Once I get my math, science, and history (yuck) out of the way, I will finally be able to focus just on my strengths, english and design. So what is my college plan? Well, first I'm trying my hardest for a full ride at my local college, Colorado Mesa University, by getting straight A's and a 29 on the ACT test. So far, I have one B, and a 27 on the ACT (after having taken the stupid test four times already). I hope I can CLEP out of some college classes, hopefully math or science since I despise them the most. |
My plan is to take a class, either 3D design or filming, I haven't decided yet, at CMU and continue to study it until I reach the highest degree that the college offers. After that, I would love love love to go to the Art Institute of Colorado. I literally attack the mailbox every day to see if I have gotten any more pamphlets from them. After I researched art colleges last year, the Art Institutes stuck in my mind. Oh mama are they expensive, but as far as I'm concerned life is too short to crush your own dreams, and this is mine.
As for WCCC, we do lots of awesome things. During first semester we storyboarded and did a ton of drawing.
During second semester we worked with Adobe Photoshop; we each had to create a fictitious company and make a logo for it. After that, we made "products" for the company and design professional labels for them. My product was a perfume, and my company was called Elvish Things. At the end of the semester we had to present the products to the rest of our class, and basically "sell" them. All in all, it went pretty well.

During third semseter was 3D design and animation. We had a choice between using 3DS Max and Autodesk Maya softwares. They are made by the same company, but personally I hate 3DS Max. I'm a Maya person. Because most of the other students have never even touched a 3D program we spent a week or two just getting the basics down (making bedrooms, robots, etc). Most of the semester was spent doing our big project, which consisted of modeling upwards of 15 3D models and animating them with lights and cameras in a single scene. I had a blast. |
Fourth semester, which I'm currently in right now, we are filming. Right now, we are working on finishing our scripts and shotlists for our project. We are working in teams this time, and my group is doing a horror movie trailer.
That's all for now! If you liked this, please take a minute to like or share! It really does help!
As always, stay weird!
